Topic Notes
"The Double-Jump"   To begin with, the "Double-Jump" does not make any sense at all unless you have a character with rocket shoes, like Vectorman (or maybe a jetpack or wing flap).
However, even with some sort of logic for its existence, I still do not enjoy the feel of double-jumping in a video game. It feels very clunky and unpleasant.
Beyond those issues, I have to say that the double-jump itself just comes across as bad game design- it seems like the only reason for a double-jump is because you placed your platforms too far apart- it just seems sloppy. Double-jumping is simply not needed when you consider the multitude of ways we had to extend our single jumps back in the day. You could jump farther by:
   • holding down the jump button longer
   • performing a running jump
   • doing a charge jump
   • gliding through the air
   • bouncing off an enemy
   • bouncing on a trampoline
   • using a mech or animal ride
   • using a spring launcher
   • doing a back-flip or long-jump
   • performing a wall-jump
   • jumping on bubbles
Especially with all that in mind, I feel like double-jumping is straight-up bad game design. I do not find it necessary or fun.
