Olive DMG Palette (for that original Game Boy look)
For years I have been dissatisfied with the available color palettes when playing original DMG Game Boy games on various platforms. None of them seem to capture the true color experience I had playing my Game Boy back when it was new. With custom color palettes now available on the Analogue Pocket, I finally sat down to create my own palette with the goal of recreating my original experience. I looked at many photos of the DMG screen and then averaged and tweaked the color data to arrive at these colors, and I am very happy with the results! Feel free to use my "Olive DMG Palette" for yourself (credit to "The Gamer's Alternative" is appreciated).
Palette file created 01/09/24 (with default 75% brightness in mind)
Download the palette here:
mediafire.com/file/fs1sghm45a4ik2t/OliveDMGPalette.pal/file
Please note that the Game Boy will look more yellowish if you are looking at in under a yellow light bulb or have the contrast wheel at a lower setting. Looking at the screen under cooler light, such as natural light before mid-day will be more greenish.
Put the .pal file on the SD card in Assets/GB/Common/Palettes,
start your cartridge, press the Analogue button and go to:
Settings/Pocket/Systems/GB/Video/Color Palettes/Load Custom
Choose the OliveDMGPalette file and you're done.
Here is the palette code:
