Maze Games

In a Maze Game, you must complete objectives within a maze of corridors and passageways.

In Pac-Man (1980) the objective is to eat all the pellets. In BurgerTime (1982) the objective is to assemble all the hamburgers. In Lode Runner (1983) the objective is to collect all the gold.

A game like Wolfenstein 3-D (1992) takes place in a maze, but is exit-based, not objective-based. Similar to a Scroller, Wolfenstein 3-D has the player scrolling the screen to find the exit, but the additional aspect of keys and locked doors make Wolfenstein 3-D a Scouter.

Maze Games vs. Scouters
Objective-based Exit-based

Pac-Man (1980) does not have screen scrolling, but Pac-Mania (1987) is an example of a Maze Game that does.
